Going camping with CPR Campiña de Tarifa

Last 26th, 27th and 28th May, it took place the annual camping trip that CPR Campiña de Tarifa organizes along with parents, in campsites close to the area. The activity was aimed to undertake some tasks proposed by the projects being developed in the current school year, as well as to carry out an activity of a social nature so that all the members of the educational community have the opportunity to live together. The activities developed during these three days are related to the MOTFAL and EUDOXOS project.

The activities of the MOTFAL project have already been described in previous occasions. This time, they have been implemented in different backgrounds from those been developed so far.

The involved children have categorized a total amount of 27 plants characteristic of the beach and dunes of their area, as well as wild flowers surrounding the pine trees in the area of Tarifa. As they return to school up to the end of the current scholar year, the students will be working with the data gathered through the use of the GPS, digital cameras, pen-drivers, laptop… in order to produce the corresponding file-cards.

In the same way, they have been compiling information regarding the archaeological remains of the area. This time, they have registered a total amount of almost 30 tombs and different remains, of which they are producing the corresponding file-cards and works.

One of the most relevant moments, from my point of view, has been the visit of the students’ parents to share some activities with them. Everyone contributed with some food and equipment aimed to make the camp as comfortable as possible...In this way the campsite became a meeting point for all the scholar community, a place to share conversations, scholar and social experiences with the students. This was a very enriching practice in both social and cultural level, that encourages and fosters the team work, a characteristic so beneficial for the education of their sons and daughters, and a basic point of the project being currently developed.

This type of activities is very common at this school centre. The school, as a social, training and educational institution, is aimed at becoming a common space for everyone, a meeting point for knowledge and training. In this way, the school has become an interaction place to exchange ideas, proposals, knowledge and experiences. The school becomes a space for culture.

Taking into account the scarce population of Bolonia, where everybody knows one another and shares close interpersonal relationships, this objective is very easy to accomplish. The environment of collaboration, coordination and comradeship existing within the centre’s staff enables this type of practices and degree of involvement.
